Hi,

I recently got a TR-808 and a Doepfer MSY2 as a MIDI to Sync converter for my Mac G4 and 808. I use Cubase and a MOTU MIDI express XT USB MIDI interface. I ran the MIDI out of the MOTU MIDI interface into the MSY2 sync box. Then, I ran a DIN cable from the MSY2 to the TR-808. I select a MIDI track in Cubase and route it throught the MOTU to the MSY2. When I hit play on Cubase, the MSY2 start light lights up and the clock light pulses.

My problem is that I don't know what settings to make on the TR-808 so that it will play a rhythm track when I hit play on Cubase. The start and clock signal is getting to the 808 but no sound will come out (the rhythm track won't play). Does anyone know what I need to do on the 808 to get it to play a rhythm track? I can't find enough info in the manual.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Yes,

The 808's switch is set to input.  I know the signal is received by the 808 because when I hit play in Cubase, the led on pot 7 blinks on the 808.  I'm unsure if I should have the 808 on Play or Compose and what other settings on the 808 need to be made so the 808 will play a rhythm instead of blinking at me.

I know this is something simple, I just am confused about what steps to follow to get the 808 playing coreectly.
